Sometime back, Katrina Kaif was said to have been searching for a partner to appear on Salman Khan’s TV game show “10 Ka Dum”.
Katrina and Salman are said to be left with few friends in the industry, which made it difficult for Kat to find a partner. But now the search is over.
Her “New York” co-star Neil Nitin Mukesh finally agreed to be on show with Katrina. Together they will promote “New York’ on the show.
John Abraham, who also features in the film, was absent from the show’s shooting which took place earlier this week.
According to sources, John too was invited on the show but he chose to remain absent – one reason could be that he was nursing his fractured foot and hence could not come for the shoot; second could be that after his alleged link-up with Sallu’s girlfriend, he did not want to face Salman and his personal sarcastic questions, and that too in front of Katrina.
Meanwhile, those present during the shoot say Katrina was in a light-hearted mood and seemed relaxed on the show. Even Neil seemed to have enjoyed his first appearance on a television reality show.
We are eagerly looking forward to this episode of “10 Ka Dum”.
Last season, when Katrina appeared on this show, Salman was openly affectionate and indulgent. But a lot seems to have happened in their lives since then so it will be interesting to see if their relationship has been affected by these developments or not.
Salman Khan enjoys gossiping on his TV show ‘10 Ka Dum’.
Apart from the questions pertaining to the show, the contestants have to face Salman and his personal questions too! And, his questions are sometimes so personal and direct that the contestants are left aghast.
One such incident has been reported from the sets of ‘10 Ka Dum’.
Daler Mehendi and his brother Mika were invited on the show and one of the questions put to them was: How many people think Rakhi Sawant can be a good wife?
Mika, who has an ugly history with Rakhi, passed rude comments and made faces. But Salman, who is known stand up for women, bluntly told Mika not to make fun of her. He also said Rakhi has worked very hard to reach this level and that he has tremendous respect for her.
Though Mika agreed, he added that Rakhi gained popularity only because of him. To which Salman said that it is only her hard work which led her to success.
Finally, when Mika said that Rakhi is his friend, Salman laughed off his comment by saying that Mika is the biggest liar.
Mika and Daler Mehendi will be seen in ‘10 Ka Dum’ on June 6, 2009.
German model-actress Claudia Ciesla (pictured above) is staying in news thanks to her linkup with Salman Khan, and Sallu talking openly about her to media and also admitting that she has met his family.
Now the buzz in the market is that Claudia is going to appear on Salman’s TV show "10 Ka Dum" soon.
Flynn Remedios, Claudia’s spokesperson, has denied this news.
However, as these days the buzz about Caludia and Salman is very strong, this may be a good opportunity for the TV channel to bring her on the show and create a stir, and, of course, raise the TRPs of "10 Ka Dum".
Claudia, who stars in “Karma - Crime Passion Reincarnation”, is currently busy promoting the movie.
It was none other than Salman Khan who gave Kareena Kapoor a piece of advice regarding her weight.
Kareena and sister Karisma were the celebrity contestants on the opening episode of Salmana’s TV show ‘10 Ka Dum’ on Saturday (May 30) night.
Salman was at his humorous best and kept joking with both the sisters.
Salman, who has taken Aamir Khan’s advice and quit drinking, passed it on to Kareena, who has lost a lot of weight in the recent past and now flaunts an eye-popping body.
Salman told Kareena to be careful and not lose too much weight, as men prefer women with some flesh. He also said that losing too much weight affects the face and one stops looking attractive. Finally he passed a light hearted statement warning Kareena not to stand in front of the fan or she might just fly away.
It was then Karisma’s turn. However, Salman complimented Karisma for her perfect figure and also spoke about the flops the two had together!
Bollywood sisters Karisma and Kareena Kapoor will kick off the second season of Salman Khan-hosted quiz show "Dus Ka Dum", which will go on air on Saturday (May 30) on Sony TV.
According to a source from the unit, on the show Salman points out the contrast between Karisma and Kareena's personalities.
"Salman said, 'If Karisma was not an actress she would have been a nun'," said the source in a press statement.
While Karisma teamed up with Salman in films like "Andaaz Apna Apna", "Jeet", "Dulhan Hum Le Jaayenge" apart from others, Kareena did "Kyon Ki..." with him and their next film together is "Mr. & Mrs.Khanna".
Salman Khan, who recently landed in Mumbai after a shooting schedule in London, attended a rare public event to announce that he would indeed be back on Season 2 of his game show “10 Ka Dum”, which takes off on Saturday, May 30, on Sony TV.
We caught Salman in one of his coolest moods as he spoke about his return to the small screen and his four back-to-back films this year.
Here’s what he said…
You are back on ‘10 Ka Dum’. How was the experience of doing Season 1? Are there going to be any changes in the format in the new season?
It was a great experience last year and hence I am back on the show. About the format, I think what has worked so far should not be changed.
‘10 Ka Dum’ brought the real Salman Khan to the people. Can you tell us a bit more about the real you?
When we do a movie they think this guy is acting. But it is completely different when we do such a show. Everybody’s character has a lot of shades. Like what I am to you might not be the same as what I am to another person. The show brought out what I am in general.
We stars also have problems like everybody else. Somewhere it affects us too. So if we are not in the right mood and get rude with someone, we also call that person back and behave overtly nice as well to make him feel better.
What all did you learn while doing the show?
What I got to understand is that the way I think in general is how the masses think as well. So somewhere I have not been alienated from the common man.
I want to live my life like a normal guy. I want to travel in a rickshaw or go to Barista for a coffee like everybody else.
They expect me to be this star which I don’t want to be at all times. So when I don’t want to be the star you guys get a lot of material to write about me!
Coming to your fee for the show, we hear you have cut down on it. Is it true? How much have you charged?
Yes I have cut down on my price. But that is just by a small margin.
For now there are going to be 14 episodes of ‘10 Ka Dum’ only?
Yes, that is what they have decided as of now. I don’t know what the plans are after that.
On to films… What are your forthcoming releases?
The first movie to release probably would be ‘Wanted: Dead And Alive’, then I will have ‘Main aur Mrs Khanna’, then ‘London Dreams’. By Diwali we shall have ‘Veer’.
Four films in such a short span…wouldn’t that be too much for the audience?
What do you mean? I think it would be wonderful to release movies everyday! (Laughs)
How much of ‘Veer’ is complete?
We have finished the London schedule and Rajasthan schedule which was the most difficult. I thought it would be difficult to shoot action scenes for ‘Wanted’, but ‘Veer’ was way more difficult. Now we have some 35-40 days of shoot left.
You don’t seem to be doing films which have serious subjects.
There are so many problems in the world. So when I do a film I do it thinking that in those two hours I should make the person laugh and feel relieved and then go back to his regular life.
Even if you look at ‘Khamoshi’, it was a very serious film. The original script had no humour for my character. All the humour that you find in the film was put by me.
So Sanjay (Bhansali) used to take two takes of everything in both ways and after seeing how it went for some days he agreed that it works much better with humour. In fact, I keep asking him why he makes such sad films!
Any chances of ‘Bajirao Mastani’ happening?
I don’t think so. I don’t know what Sanjay (Bhansali) has to say about this though.
While celebrities are lining up to appear on 10 Ka Dum hosted by Salman Khan, Mallika Sherawat has walked down the route less taken and has insisted she will make and appearance only if she's paid a cool Rs 50 lakh and she has got it too!
Says a source, "Last year, the channel wanted Mallika to appear on 10 Ka Dum. She wasn't particularly interested even though they had promised her they'd promote her film Ugly Aur Pagli. Also Mallika didn't have the dates. Mallika and Salman had issues with each other during the 2006 Rockstars tour. Salman, who is not known to forgive easily, has not tried to mend fences with Mallika since and Mallika played up the diva bit and didn't send out an olive branch either.
Adds the source, "They patched up last year after meeting up at an event. After that, Mallika was even seen attending Sallu's birthday bash in Panvel along with her brother, Vikram Singh, the producer of Hissss."
Apparently, the actress one day impulsively rang up Salman and got herself invited to his birthday. As soon as she reached there, she greeted Sallu warmly and told him she liked his films and dreamt of acting with him one day. Salman was floored. After that, they have become good friends and now get along like a house on fire.
The source continues, "Sony was very eager to have Mallika on their show. This time, Mallika was agreeable as she and Salman were on very friendly terms. But Mallika insisted that she would come only if she was paid a certain sum.
She will also be talking about her next release, Hissss, which is being directed by Hollywood director Jennifer Lynch. Now that the money issue has been sorted out, Mallika will be shooting for 10 Ka Dum on May 24."
Selling the film right! Mallika Sherawat-starrer Hissss, directed by Jennifer Lynch, which is based on the myth of the vengeful snake woman has Endeavor Independent, which handled the worldwide sales of Slumdog Millionaire, handling worldwide sales for the film in Cannes. Apparently Endeavor was impressed after watching the promo of the film at a special preview in Los Angeles.
A moody Salman Khan has been giving the producers of 10 Ka Dum (a TV show he hosts) sleepless nights. According to sources in Big Synergy (who's producing the show), the actor was meant to complete shooting for four episodes of the second season of the show, something he hasn't done yet."
A source reveals, "The channel has already begun promotional ads and outdoor hoardings have been put up. The show is slated to air from May 30."
The source adds. "Salman was to begin shooting last week but he never showed up. The makers could barely finish shooting two promos with him. The producers now have the actor's dates (after May 22) but it still isn't clear if he will show up. The actor's dates were a nagging issue even last year. He didn't turn up for most of his shoots and eventually, the company had to shoot with his friends a lot more than with normal contestants."
A spokesperson for Big Synergy, who did not wish to be named says, "It is true that Salman has not shot a single minute of the show yet. We all have been panicking. It does look like he will make us shoot late nights like he did last year."
This time around when Salman Khan starts shooting for his game show Dus Ka Dum, his special guests will be his avid fans.
“In the first season we got big stars like Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, Rani Mukerji and others to come on to the sets,” says a unit member. Obviously for this round, the show organisers don’t want to repeat the guest list. So they’re scouting for Sallu fans to be special guests this time. And from what we hear, Slumdog Millionaire-star Azharuddin (a self-confessed Salman follower) could be one of the first guests to be in the hot seat.
he is set to host the second season of Dus Ka Dum. But this time he will not be as involved with the show as he was last year.
A source said, "This is a result of the huge pay cut that has happened this season. It is believed that Salman was paid Rs 89 crore in the first season, but in the second season he will be paid only Rs 44 crore. And with the pay cut, Salman has also cut down on his involvement. He has refused to use his clout with his star friends and colleagues to get them on the show."
A source close to the actor said, "Salman recently had a meeting with the programming heads. He made it very clear that he would no longer be responsible for inviting his friends and celebs as guests on the show. He will do his job of hosting and that will be about it."
Danish Khan, Vice President - Marketing Sony Entertainment said, "Salman has a star attraction and he'll be seen in great style as usual; a big dhamaka entry is planned for him."
When questioned about Salman's decision to not ask celebs to participate, given the drastic cut in payment for the 2nd season, he said, "I am not aware of this. He is involved in the production but there is no hard and fast rule as to what he is supposed to do. We are in the process of talking to a lot of celebs from all walks of life and we will let you know the line-up soon. As far as money is concerned, as a policy we can't disclose the amount paid for either season."
Star power does a lot of good to any show. The source said, "Salman's word carries a lot of weight and that's how he managed to get top notch actors and star friends like Rani Mukerji who is rarely seen on TV, or Govinda-David, Ranbir-Deepika, or his brothers together on the show. Getting people together on a television show is not always possible unless you are a Salman Khan or a Shah Rukh Khan."
The shoot for Dus Ka Dum will begin as soon as Salman is back from London where he is shooting for Veer.
