Amitabh not as rich as SRK: Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan says he couldn't bid for an Indian Premier League (IPL) team because
he doesn't have "as much money as (Kolkata Knight Riders owner) Shah Rukh Khan". "I don't have as much money as Shah Rukh. He has money and so he owns
a team," Amitabh said on Zee News' celebrity chat show Kahiye Janab to be aired on Saturday.
Amitabh sent a congratulatory SMS to skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni for his Padma Shri and didn't get a response. But he says he holds no grudge against the cricket star. "He must have been busy, there's no need to make an issue out of this." The sexagenarian otherwise makes for an avid viewer of the IPL and says he watches "almost all the matches".

Female Boxers Wanted: A thrilling action sequence is being canned in Bangkok by action director Vijayan and his team for Boney Kapoor’s Wanted. The sequence involves hundreds of spectators watching a brutal fight between female Thai boxers. This scene also has southern star Prakash Raj and is being shot at an indoor stadium. The Salman starrer film will release in early July.

Sanjay Dutt, back to Bollywood

Sanjay Dutt, who wished to follow in the footsteps of his late father and union minister Sunil Dutt by joining politics, has now deferred the idea and wants to concentrate on his acting career instead.

For all practical purposes, perhaps, Sanjay has decided to say goodbye to politics even before he plunged into it completely, clearly because of his party’s dismal performance in the Lok Sabha elections.

According to close friends, the whole experience has left Sanjay disillusioned. “Sanjay entered politics against the wishes of those close to him. He wanted to enter politics for the sake of his freedom. His argument was that through politics he would be able to defend himself better against charges of terrorism. What could we say after that? He even put his film career on the back burner.” However, from now on it’s only films for him. The source said, “Sanjay has given dates for the whole year. There’s no room for any other kind of commitment. After completing his schedule for All The Best in Goa, he will leave for South Africa to shoot for Anil Kapoor’s No Problem. He has given a nod to Ashtavinayak’s film to be directed by Apoorva Lakhia too that features Amitabh Bachchan also.”

Moreover, he will give more time to Sanjay Dutt Productions. “The first film of the production house will be directed by David Dhawan featuring Sanjay and Ranbir Kapoor. It goes on floor early next year. The next will be a three-hero film directed by Soham Shah. So it will be films all the way for Sanju. For now, Priya Dutt is the only politician in the Dutt family.”

Meanwhile, Sanjay reluctantly said, “At the moment, my plans are only about shooting. As for politics, you’ll have to speak to my brother Amar Singhji.”

Qurbani remake not on

There were reports of Sanjay Dutt and Sanjay Gupta putting their enmity behind and collaborating for the sake of the late Feroz Khan on the remake of Qurbani. But Sanjay Dutt's spokesperson has rubbished these rumours. Sanjay Gupta was considered to direct the film because his films are very stylish, glamourous, technically slick and glossy and the remake of Qurbani had to have a high glamour quotient.

Sanjay’s spokesperson Dharm Oberoi says, "Nobody has approached Sanjay Dutt to do the movie and he is not starring in the remake. We will never work with Sanjay Gupta again. Currently, Sanjay Dutt is shooting for Ajay Devgan's All The Best in Goa. It is directed by Rohit Shetty of Golmaal fame."

Sanjay Dutt and Sanjay Gupta have worked together on films such as Kaante, Plan, Musafir, Shootout at Lokhandwala and even floated a production company called White Feather Films together. Their friendship was well known. However, after Shootout at Lokhandwala, Dutt accused Gupta of cheating him of money and that was the end of their friendship. At the time, Sanjay Dutt was doing Gupta's directorial venture Alibaug but he opted out and was replaced by Irrfan.

Sanjay Gupta was not available for comment but in a previous interview, he denied reports of them getting together for the remake of Qurbani.

Sanjay Dutt allowed to go abroad for six months

The Supreme Court on Friday (May 8) allowed Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt to go abroad yet again - this time for over six months, to enable him to undertake shooting of around half a dozen of his films.

A bench of Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan, Justice Arijit Pasayat and Justice P. Sathasivam ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to release Dutt's passport to enable him undertake his foreign trips.

The bench also ordered Dutt to submit his passport to the CBI latest by January 10 after his return.

The bench allowed Dutt's visit abroad on his plea that he had to undertake the shooting of around half a dozen films at various places abroad.

Appearing for Dutt, senior counsel and former additional solicitor general Mukul Rohtagi told the court that his client has six films lined for shooting abroad.

The films pending for shooting abroad include "All the Best", "The Fun Begins", "No Problem", "Double Dhamaal", "Sankee", and "Indian", said Rohtagi adding that shootings are scheduled between June 10 and Dec 31 in South Africa and Canada.

Sanju-Amar together as Bachchans sit alone

Sanjay Dutt spoke eloquently, and movingly at Feroz Khan's memorial service.

That was noticed, of course. What was also noticed was the fact that Amar Singh was with Sanjay and not the Bachchans.

This raised a few eyebrows because they are supposed to be really thick. Amar Singh even left with Sanjay and Manyata, while the Bachchan sat by themselves.

Sources close to Amar Singh said that there was no issue and that he remained as close as ever to the Bachchans, and that may well be.

But for a group of people who always make a show of unity, it was a surprise to see them at the same place but apart as these pictures show.

Sanjay Dutt visits house where mother Nargis was born

Actor-turned-politician Sanjay Dutt turned emotional Sunday after visiting a nearly century-old building in Kolkata where his mother, legendary actress Nargis, was born.

The dilapidated building on 8 Indian Mirror Street, saw a large crowd since early morning on Sunday (April 26) as news leaked out about Dutt's impending arrival.

Accompanied by Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh and encircled by his private security guards, Dutt arrived in a bullet-proof car to cries of "Munnnabhai zindabad" and "Sanjay Dutt Zindabad". He was immediately taken into the house, whose residents were eagerly waiting.

Dutt was taken to the room where Nargis was believed to have been born in 1929 to a muslim mother – Allahabad-based singer Jaddanbai, and a Hindu father – Rawalpindi-based Uttamchand Mohanchand.

Sanjay spent about ten minutes in the room all alone, and seemed overcome by nostalgia when he came out.

"It's a very emotional moment for me. Thanks to Amar Singhji, that he found the house," said the actor - affectionately called Sanju baba.

"I was in the room alone for 10 minutes remembering my mother. Thanks to Kolkata and the people of Kolkata," he said, before leaving the spot.

He later left for Nalhati in Birbhum to address an election meeting.

Sanjay-Manyata marriage not on the rocks

There was news last week that Manyata Dutt is upset with Sanjay for not letting her contest the elections.

It was reported that since the court has banned Sanjay from contesting the elections, the party as well as Manyata were hoping that Sanjay would allow her in his place. But Sanjay flatly refused and told her to act only as a wife. This upset Manyata and she went off to London.

It was also said that the couple’s relationship was in trouble and that Manyata has shifted to London to take care of her textile business.

However, Sanjay has put all doubts to rest.

The day Manyata was to come back from London, Sanjay left the election campaign and went to Mumbai.

Manyata was shocked to see him at home as she thought he was in Allahabad.

Sanjay then played a love song and went down on his knees and gifted her a huge diamond ring!

Sanjay Dutt plays Munnabhai on campaign trail

Sanjay Dutt is making the most of his old Munnabhai wardrobe and is using it to lure in the crowds as he campaigns for the Samajwadi Party in Bihar.

Though the Supreme Court has ruled that Dutt cannot contest, he has been appointed General Secretary to the party so he can stay close to politics and campaign for them.

And the actor is pulling out all the stops for the campaign. On a recent visit to Bihar, he brought out his Munnabhai avatar from his hit films Munnabhai MBBS and Lage Raho Munnabhai. He even addressed the crowds with dialogues from the movies. A source present, says, “He was on full swing and used his famous dialogues from Munnabhai to drive the crowd crazy. The actor was quite efficient in engaging the masses.”

Sanjay even compared the potential voters to Circuit, his sidekick played by Arshad Warsi, from the Munnabhai series. The source adds, “The line of his speech which had the most effect was when he said, ‘In my film I had one Circuit but here, I can see a thousand Circuits, who have come to support me and SP. It’s nice to see a lot of affection and though I am not contesting this time, I hope to the next time’.”

His exact words were: "Munnabhai mein sirf ek Circuit tha. Yahan par jitne hazaron log maujood hain, saare mere Circuit hain."

Sanjay was meant to contest for the Samajwadi Party in Lucknow. His ambition of emulating his father and sister by going to the Lok Sabha was shattered on March 31 when the Supreme Court ruled that he could not contest since he had been convicted in the 1993 bomb blasts case. Sanjay was convicted by an anti-terror court for possessing a prohibited weapon.
