Kites’s website launched

Kites has made it to the Cannes Film Festival and Hrithik and Barbara are all set to walk the red carpet on Sunday. The official website of Kites has been launched. Take a look:

I could watch kites flying forever up in the sky, free, dancing in the sky with no worries...

Like two lovers, they meet, they fight, they embrace, they almost become one...

But it is not the will of the kites that makes them dance in the sky...

Someone else always holds the strings…

You must have noticed that there is no sign of Kangana Ranaut at all in the film’s first look, which focuses only on Hrithik and Barbara, who make a scorching hot couple. We wonder if she is the surprise package of the film.

Kites Actress Barbara Mori Hot Wallpapers, Sexy Photos, Pictures

Barbara Mori is a model and actress. Barbara Mori (full name Barbara Mori Ochoa) was born on February 2, 1978 in Montevideo, Uruguay and she is a Mexican actress and model. After working in television, the actress started receiving offers in movies. She has a sister Kenya and brother Kintaro. She had a son in 1998 called Sergio, whose father is actor Sergio Mayer. Barbara Mori got a break as a model when she was noticed by designer Marcos Toledo. She made her debut in movies with Inspiración (2000). She had a major hit with the release of La Mujer De Mi Hermano. The hottest actress is currently working in a Bollywood movie Kites with Hrithik Roshan. To be shot in New Mexico, Las Vegas and Los Angeles, Kites is likely to be released on 21st May 2010.

Hrithik, Barbara can give you Goosebumps!

The newest hot pair of the town Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori has been painting the town red and charming all with their aura. And the latest to get all awed by their presence was a ‘bechaara’ Bartender at the recently held bash at Vijay Mallya’s villa Le Grand Jardin on Sainte-Marguerite. Mallya invited 300 guests, which included Bollywood stars, political dignitaries from the Indian and French Government.

To add the fun element to his party, Mallya called his bartender who has a unique specialty of opening a Champagne bottle using a ‘Talwar’ (sword). Interestingly, the guy who’s an expert in this art got nervous and couldn’t perform properly in front of the ‘Kites’ couple Hrithik and Barbara who were excited to see his art.

“The bartender was completely disheartened as he couldn’t perform in front of Hrithik and Barbara but the actor told that Bartender to take his own time and also made him feel comfortable. Interestingly after a few minutes, the same Bartender returned and opened a champagne bottle with the sword,” said a source.

It seems Hrithik knows the art of making others comfortable quite well.

Barbara Mori didn't know English before she began shooting for Kites

Did anyone in India know who Barbara Mori was until the Roshans brought her over for Kites? And now after Cannes, Barbara is being recognized on an international podium.

It's not just fame that Kites has brought Ms Mori. She also knew no English before she started shooting for Kites. But by the time the shooting concluded she could grope around the English language, thanks to Hrithik Roshan.

Apparently, Barbara and Hrithik made a pact. Hrithik would teach Barbara English and Barbara would teach him Spanish.

"I don't know how much of the promised linguistic exchange worked. But Hrithik knows enough Spanish to understand Mori better than his character in Kites who can't follow a word of what she says in the film," says a crew member.

As for Barbara's angrezi, she has picked up enough to conduct herself coherently with the media in Cannes. Although, apparently, she would often turn to Hrithik to get the right word.

Says Hrithik's father Rakesh Roshan, "Barbara knew only Spanish when she started shooting for Kites. That suited us fine since her character is supposed to understand only Spanish. During shooting she needed to communicate with her co-stars and the crew. She was forced to learn English. Now she speaks just enough to make herself understood."

The film's shooting is over. But the editing remains. Rakesh Roshan is hoping for an October release.

"All the prospective buyers and media persons loved the trailer we took to Cannes. This was my first official visit to Cannes though I've been to this city for holidays," says Rakesh Roshan.

Hrithik, Barbara Mori get too cosy at Cannes

While it's chilly in Cannes, the lead pair of Kites 'keep each other warm'; the duo appears quite comfy with the 'closeness' they share

Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori seem to have thrown caution to the wind. The twosome were spotted dining in close comfort at the Croisette restaurant in Cannes after the Kites press conference.

Says a source, "Their chairs were too close for comfort. Considering that it is cold in Cannes, the duo seemed to be giving each other a lot of warmth."

Barbara and Hrithik also attended the India Party thrown by Vijay Mallya on a luxury yacht. Says a source, "Hand-in-hand, they looked pretty cosy, even as papa Roshan walked a discreet two steps behind."

It is learnt that Hrithik did not accompany his dad and Kites director Anurag Basu when they flew into Cannes. Hrithik left a day later and without biwi Sussanne. Barbara jetted into the festival from Mexico.

Barbara Mori snubs Aishwarya in Cannes

The controversies surrounding Aishwarya Rai Bachchan at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival don’t seem to end.

First it was Aishwarya and Sonam Kapoor who fought over walking the red carpet for cosmetic brand L’Oreal.

And now it is Mexican actress Barbara Mori, Hrithik co-star in “Kites”, who seems to have rubbed Ash the wrong way.

Aishwarya is in Cannes with hubby Abhishek to walk the red carpet for L’Oreal, while Barbara was there for the promotion of “Kites”.

All of them were put up in the same hotel, The Martinez.

When Ash learnt that Hrithik and Barbara are in the same hotel, she wanted to exchange pleasantries with them. She met Hrithik and had a chat with him and told him that she wanted to meet Barbara too.

But the meeting wasn’t the best thing to happen at the hotel.

When Ash met Barbara, the latter just said a casual hello and excused herself saying she had to go for an event.

Ash was left aghast with this snub, but could not do much.

Sensing that Barbara’s behavior would have hurt Ash, Hrithik stepped in and explained to Ash the reason for Barbara’s seemingly rude behaviour.

Aishwarya is an international face and definitely Barbra knew her so her behaviour could not have been because of not knowing Ash. So we wonder why Barbara acted the way she did?

Papa sanctions Hrithik-Barbara kiss!

Rakesh Roshan is in a bittersweet mood.

The filmmaker, who went to Cannes to showcase his next venture Kites, spoke to BT about the buzz around the film because of the onscreen chemistry (and kiss) between the lead pair — his son Hrithik and Mexican model-actress Barbara Mori — that reportedly carried on off the sets in Mumbai. Rakesh, who has made half a dozen blockbusters including Khudgarz, Khoon Bhari Maang, Karan Arjun, Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, Koi Mil Gaya and Krishh, is aware that the hype and the hoopla surrounding Kites is something else. Happily, this has translated into business for him, and the worldwide rights of Kites have apparently been sold for Rs 150 crore. But Rakesh, who accompanied Hrithik and Barbara to the international film festival at Cannes, cannot help feeling as infuriated about the whole thing as he is excited.

Were the steamy scenes in Kites added to woo the international audience?
There will be two versions of Kites, one for the Indian market and the other for the international. To assume we added steamy scenes to woo an international audience is ridiculous! We’ve just made a film where we have changed the rules. And there is some intimacy between Hrithik and Barbara because they’re playing a couple in love. Hrithik had to kiss Barbara, what else could he do? Sing songs
with her like we do in our Hindi movies? It is his job as an actor to do what the filmmaker tells him.

Were you embarrassed watching their intimacy on the sets?
I fail to understand why everyone is asking me this question. It is silly. If as a filmmaker I can watch Hrithik jumping from a five-storey building in Krishh, why should I be uncomfortable watching him do a kiss? It is his character in Kites who is kissing Barbara. It is just a job.

Do you agree that Kites is your most hyped film?
I know there is huge excitement, and expectation, over Kites. I’m not doing anything deliberate to hype the film. We showcased it at the film festival and the international media went gaga over it. I was at Vijay Mallya’s party in Cannes and everyone was curious about Kites. Most western newspapers and magazines have written about Hrithik. For me as a father and a filmmaker, it’s a proud moment.

Hrithik has kissed Barbara in Kites

Hrithik and Barbara Mori have played tonsil hockey in their upcoming film, adding fuel to the fire of the rumours of their off-screen romance.

When Barbara came to India, Hrithik rented out expensive apartments for herself and her family and even gifted her with a vanity van. He used his influence to help her brother Kintaro with his musical career. It was recently reported that Suzanne had moved out of the Roshan household as her hubby’s proximity to his Mexican costar was unacceptable to her. Hrithik, Suzanne and their families denied the story, saying that all was well between the two and Suzanne had moved to her parents’ house with the children as they were getting rid of a white ant problem at their place while Hrithik was in South Africa. Hrithik and Suzanne then shouted from the rooftops that their marriage was rock solid and perfect.

Much has been said about the sizzling chemistry the good looking duo shares in the sensual romantic thriller. Their chemistry was so intoxicating that senior Roshan called bahu Suzanne and the kids to the US so that Hrithik would spend more time with his wife and less time with Barbara. Besides doing the salsa and crooning for Barbara, Hrithik also shares a few smooches with his sultry costar. In fact, Barbara helped the shy actor shed his inhibitions.

There was a crucial scene in which the two lovers have to jump off a rooftop and Hrithik, like a good Indian boy, kissed her on the cheeks, to which Barbara said, “If it was your real wife Suzanne, how would you have kissed her?” and Hrithik figured it out in his head and reacted by kissing her on the lips, as he would do to his wife.

Hrithik is amused by the buzz the kiss has generated. He says that it’s high time we grew up and accepted the act of lovers expressing their affection for each other through kissing and embracing as it is perfectly normal and real.

This is not the first time Hrithik has kissed his costar. Green-eyed beauty Aishwarya Rai, with whom he shares scintillating chemistry, was the first one he puckered up to in Dhoom 2. The tastefully shot kiss generated a lot of buzz prior to the film’s release and contributed to its success. Hrithik’s wife Suzanne was totally cool with it and had also instructed Hrithik to make it the best, most passionate kiss seen in Hindi films. Things were not as cool at Ash’s end as the Bachchans were upset with her skin show and lip lock with Hrithik in the film, which also starred then fiancĆ© Abhishek. As a result of the Dhoom kiss controversy in December 2006 through the beginning of 2007, the Roshans were not invited to the Ash-Abhi wedding in April 2007. However, the two set the screen on fire again in Jodhaa Akbar that released in 2008.

Barbara's great: Hrithik

Yes, we know what you’re thinking. The Bollywood hunk has been romantically linked with his firang co-star from Kites much to the discomfort of wife Sussanne.

So, what are the two upto doing the waltz down Cannes’ red carpet in full glare of the world media?

Hrithik, who has denied any kind of immoral relationship with the sexy Latino actress, has learned to deal with the allegation that spread like wildfire in Bollywood. Talking to BT from Cannes, he said, “I wouldn’t give any attention to the rumour. It doesn’t matter as long as it is something to do with my film. Barbara is a great girl, a great co-star and friend. And I am very proud of my film. If tongues wag, I can’t help it. It doesn’t matter what people say.”

That’s that, but strangely, Hrithik and Barbara are not making this appearance at Cannes to promote Kites, despite the English version of this film being officially unveiled there.

Instead, they’re doing this for a Hollywood film titled Bright Star by antipodean director Jane Campion that’s in contention for the prestigious Palme d’Or award at the festival. Hrithik is a great fan of Campion. The film is a love story based on the last years of the English port John Keats. Of the English version of Kites, he said, “We haven’t made any changes, there are the usual song and dances, but done in international style.”

He visited Cannes first when he was 21 with his filmmaker grandfather J Om Prakash. “I was working as his assistant then. And I remember standing by the red carpet and watching the beautiful and glamorous world of showbiz walking down, little knowing that destiny would put me on the same spot,” he said. The actor has a busy three days watching films, meeting Hollywood producers and global distributors for Kites. His international look in the film is a hot topic at Cannes. So is Hrithik ready for Hollywood? “I will go wherever my work is appreciated and takes me. An actor always looks for a wider audience,” he replied. A teaser of Kites is being shown on two digital screens beside the red carpet. This privilege, normally reserved for big budget Hollywood films, is a first for Bollywood.

Kites - First Look

Kites, Hrithik Roshan,Kangna Ranaut,Barbara Mori,Kabir Bedi

Hrithik, Barbara head to Cannes

Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan is set to attend the special screening of his much-talked about film "Kites" with co-star Barbara Mori, said his father Rakesh Roshan who also added that he will project the movie as his production house's first truly international product.

Director Anurag Basu will also be there with them at 62nd Cannes Film Festival that opened on Wednesday (May 13).

"Yes Hrithik, Anurag, representatives from Big Pictures and I will be in Cannes. Barbara Mori will be joining us from Mexico. We'll be screening a specially-prepared trailer of 'Kites' on May 15th. Then on May 16th we'll screen the film at Cannes for international buyers."

So far Rakesh Roshan's productions including "Koi... Mil Gaya" (2003) and "Krrish" (2006) have been very desi in their appeal. "Kites" is being taken to an international audience and Cannes is the first stop, therefore very important.

"We hope to pitch 'Kites' as our production house's first truly international product. Cannes is a very important venue for international cinema. That's why we've made sure to complete the film in time. Anurag and I have been working against time to do, but we've managed," said Rakesh Roshan.

Rakesh Roshan says that his visit to Cannes with the film "Kites" has nothing to do with the current producers-multiplex deadlock.

"Why should the strike in the multiplexes affect our visit to Cannes? We aren't breaking any of conditions laid down during the strike. We're not screening our film publicly or for media at Cannes. This is a screening only for potential buyers from the West," he said.

The "Kites" team is scheduled to reach Cannes on Thursday (May 14) and will leave Sunday (May 17). They'll be staying at The Martinez in Cannes.

Hrithik's Kites to be marketed at Cannes 2009

Hrithik Roshan starrer mega-budget "Kites" will be among a bouquet of films that will be marketed by Reliance BIG Pictures at the 62nd International Cannes Film Festival, starting May 13.

Directed by Anurag Basu, "Kites" also stars Barbara Mori, Kangana Ranaut, Nick Brown and Kabir Bedi in pivotal roles.

The entertainment arm of Indian business conglomerate Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group will market 18 films in all including various films in world cinema and popular cinema categories.

Hindi films such as director Piyush Jha's "Sikandar", comic capers "Do Knot Disturb" directed by David Dhawan, "Well Done Abba" by Shyam Benegal and Vinod Pande's "Chaloo Movie", which are in various stages of production, will also be promoted at the festival this year.

Meanwhile, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have also left India for Cannes. Ash has been attending the event as an ambassador of cosmetics brand L’Oreal Paris.

Strike wont affect us: Rakesh Roshan

Rakesh Roshan and Big Pictures have been able to circumvent the current producers-multiplex deadlock to take Kites to the Cannes International Film Festival 2009.

Defends Rakesh, "Why should the strike affect our visit? We are not breaking any of the conditions laid down. We're not screening our film publicly or for the media at Cannes. This is a screening only for potential buyers from the West."

Rakesh will be accompanied by his son Hrithik who stars in the film. Director Anurag Basu will also accompany them. Actress Barbara Mori, too, will be flying in from Mexico.

The Kites unit will be in Cannes from May 14-17. They'll be staying at The Martinez.

Rakesh who is frantically working to complete all the formalities, says, "We'll be screening a specially-prepared trailer of Kites on May 15. On May 16 , we we will screen the film at Cannes for internantional buyers."

So far, all of the filmmaker's productions have been very desi in their appeal. Kites is being taken to an international audience. And Cannes is the first stop, therefore very important.

Says Rakesh, "We hope to pitch Kites as our production house's first truly international product. Cannes is a very important venue for international cinema. That's why we've made sure to complete the film in time although Anurag Basu and I have been working against time to do so. But we've managed."

Cannes update
Though Sajid Nadiadwala might have said he won't be taking Kambakkht Ishq to Cannes, entertainment studio Eros International is definitely taking the the film to the festival. "We introduce three film projects (KI, Love Aaj Kal and Aladin) at Cannes," says Sunil Lulla of Eros.

Barbara-Hrithik go separate

Duo will walk Cannes red carpet but stay in separate hotels

Rakesh Roshan is taking his Hrithik-Barbara starrer Kites to the Cannes Film Festival this year. As a part of the Cannes itenary, Hrithik and Barbara will be walking the red carpet on the day rushes of the film are showcased.

A source reveals, “Kites features on the list of movies to be showcased at Cannes and will be shown to international buyers on May 16. Kites has been tagged under the genre of romantic thriller and tags a running time of 135 minutes. There are also plans to have a press conference with the local press. Since this is Hrithik's first time to Cannes, he wants to make the most of his trip. The trip will also be a huge deal for Barbara who has jumped into the big league after being a Mexican TV actress.”

However, the source adds that the whole trip has been planned in a way that there is no focus on the Hrithik-Barbara alleged affair. “As of today, Hrithik and Barbara will be walking the red carpet together. But they will be put up in separate hotels. While Hrithik will be staying with his dad and Suzanne at the Martinez Hotel, Barbara will be put up in a separate hotel with her brother Kintaro.”

Why are the stars being separated physically?

Reports of a squabble between Hrithik and Suzanne over the hero’s fling with the hottie from South America made news earlier this month. These were denied immediately by the family and there was a show of unity. Suzanne's 'moving away from home', as was alleged in one report, was explained away as due to house repairs. But the issue is still simmering. And that's why the Roshans want to ensure that there is no report over this at Cannes.

News of Hrithik and Barbara was picked up by the local media in Mexico, which is Mori's country. “Rakesh Roshan knows there will be Indian media present at the Kites screening. He has already briefed Barbara and told her to ignore and not reply to any questions other than the film. But it will be interesting to see how he handles the situation.”

Rakesh Roshan denied the rumour that Barbara was sitting out the swine flu epidemic in India. She wasn't in the country and would not return, he said emphatically.

Kites goes to Cannes

BIG pictures is going all out to market Kites to the international audience. They are in search of buyers, distributors and media during the Cannes Film Festival, 2009.

The production house will also host a press conference and a cocktail party at the Cannes festival. They have purchased time slots to showcase teasers of the film as well. This is the first time a Bollywood film will be showing promos of their movie.

BIG Pictures is also looking to promote its art house film slate. They have lined up meeting with Hollywood biggies, Disney, Fox, Sony Paramount, Warner and more.

'Kites' at Cannes

BIG Pictures is gearing up to market KITES to the international buyers, distributors and media during the upcoming Cannes Film Festival.

To begin with, BIG Pictures will host a press conference and an elite cocktail event at Cannes. BIG Pictures has also purchased time slots to screen the KITES teaser on two digital screens adjacent to the red carpet entrance of the Palais, for the entire duration of the festival. This is a regular feature for big-budget Hollywood films, but for the first time ever, an Indian studio will showcase their film publicity on that screen.

KITES stars Hrithik Roshan, Barbara Mori, Kangna Ranaut, Nick Brown and Kabir Bedi in pivotal roles. The film is produced by Rakesh Roshan's Filmkraft and directed by Anurag Basu. KITES is being readied for release in the last quarter of 2009.

Apart from KITES, BIG Pictures will market and publicize its art house film slate. The International Distribution team has also lined up meetings with officials from Hollywood studios such as Fox, Sony, Paramount, Disney, Warner, Universal, Lionsgate amongst many others in order to explore business propositions.

Barbara to arrive in Mumbai until the swine flu epidemic ends in Mexico

Barbara Mori is expected this week in Mumbai. The actress hails from Mexico, where the dreaded swine flu originated.

It is believed that it was friend and co-star Hrithik Roshan who asked the Mexican actress to fly down to the city, till the flu situation was in control.

A source reveals, "Barbara returned back home to Mexico after the schedule of Kites in India was done. She also had to get back so to be with her son. The actress has been gone for over a month now; however her brother Kintaro Mori stayed back in India.

Says a source close to the actor, "When Hrithik heard of of the swine flu in Mexico, he called Barbara and asked her to fly down to India pronto."

Sources from the Kite unit insist that Barbara is landing in the city with her mom and son tomorrow.

The Mori family will be put up in a guesthouse in the suburbs. The actress will stay in India for till the epidemic settles down. She will also begin her dance rehearsals for the remaining schedule, and finish patchwork required for certain portions.

Mori is getting many offers for endorsements and magazine cover photo shoots. Even her sister is being offered endorsements. Her brother Kintaro is in Mumbai to cut an album with T-Series.

Hrithik remained unavailable for comment.
