Priyanka Chopra, who is now being wooed by the likes of British actor Gerard Butler and Bollywood hottie Shahid Kapoor off screen, and Uday Chopra, Hurman Baweja and a whole load of eligible men on screen, says there was a stage in life, “When I was in the eighth standard in school in the US, when I was a complete geek.

According to PC, she not only looked awkward at that adolescent age, she also lacked confidence. She recalls being infatuated with a classmate but couldn’t bring herself to even have a normal conversation with him, leave alone confess her feelings for him.

Incidentally, Uday Chopra, who is shooting with PC currently for Pyaar Impossible and plays a geek in it, is bowled over by her professionalism. Should Uday now be added to the list of PC’s close admirers?

Priyanka gets unmasked

When it comes to work, Priyanka Chopra believes in giving her best shot.

After rejecting the masquerade party masks that were flown down from Venice and New York for an ad, it was decided that a mask would be made specially for her. But that called for a plaster to be put on the actress’ face to get the exact size. What’s more, it required Priyanka to stay put for three hours. Due to lack of time, Priyanka instantly called her designer Gavin Miguel and told him to make the masks for her. Gavin created four different designs out of which Priyanka finally settled for one. Much to the relief of the ad makers.

The International Indian Film Academy is a first-of-its-kind effort to promote Indian cinema globally, thus reaching out to millions of its fans. An annual event, it honours its talents with an awards night show fun-filled with performances from various artists to represent not only their work, but also to promote Bollywood on alien shores.

Bebolicious Kareena Kapoor was supposed to perform Marjani from Billu at the IIFA 2009 ceremony, but she has reportedly dumped the idea. Why you ask?

She obviously wanted to be the event opener and the one to close it with her dhamakedaar performances but since Big B is the brand ambassador and the key performance spots are booked for the khaandaan, she had to re-think her decision.

She decided to jump out of the fray and join beau Saif Ali Khan to watch the T20 event in England. IIFA show organizers have surely been fed a healthy dose of Bebo-ism.

After Bebo, ex beau Shahid Kapur, followed suit. Since his break-up with Priyanka, they too have decided not to perform at the event, where they were supposed to be the hottest item on the menu.

They were due to do a medley number on their Kaminay numbers, which would have been a treat.

"I was looking forward to performing at IIFA and showcasing Kaminay. However, my commitment to my producer has to be honored. I regret being unable to attend this year, " Shahid quoted in a statement.

Producers of the show have been sorely missing on masala this year.

Ex-lovers, Priyanka Chopra and Harman Baweja burned up the dance floor at the wrap-up party thrown by Ashutosh Gowariker for What's Your Raashee?

A source reveals that PC and Harman walked in at separate times. Harman came early and Piggychops made an entry with her mom much later.

However, after a few drinks and exchanging pleasantries, the ex-lovers took to the dance floor.

An eyewitness says, "They didn't seem awkward with each other. It looked like they had come to terms with the break up.

Everyone cheered and clapped when they started dancing!" Now that's something you'll never see Kareena and Shahid doing.

Former lovers seen at party for their film 'What's Your Rashee?'

After their much-publicised breakup last year, Bollywood actors Priyanka Chopra and Hurman Baweja met at a party recently but didn't display any hard feelings, said a source who saw the two dancing together.

The party was thrown by filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker recently to celebrate the completion of a 100-day shooting schedule of his romantic comedy "What's Your Rashee?", in which Priyanka and Hurman are playing the lead roles.

"Hurman and Priyanka were together on the dance floor. Both of them greeted each other cordially. There was no awkwardness between them. In fact the duo, though at a distance, were enjoying dancing on the floor," the source told IANS.

Both actors, who made news with their breakup last year, danced along with Gowariker and his producer wife Sunita, and the foursome had a "good time together".

According to the source, Hurman and Priyanka walked in late for the party, but at different hours.

"Hurman came in late and immediately hit the dance floor, joining the other cast and crew members of the film. Priyanka came in with her mother just before midnight.

"But by the time Priyanka began dancing, Hurman was busy mingling with other guests. And later the crew members dragged him to the dance floor," the source added.

Though Priyanka, who is playing 12 different roles in "What's Your Rashee?", left the party at 3.30 a.m., her "Love Story 2050" co-star preferred to stay longer.

Incidentally, the party was held on the same day when Gowariker's magnum opus "Jodhaa Akbar" completed 100 days of celebrations.

Barring a song which is to be shot with Priyanka soon, the film, to be released Sep 25, has been shot completely.

"The party was a celebration of our magnificent journey. There's a song that will be shot later in June because we require the terrain to be sparkingly green. Otherwise, we are done with 'What's Your Rashee?'" said Sunita.

Bollywood to bring on the heat at Macau

IIFA 2009 is just around the corner! With the schedule for the much-awaited event out now, it looks like Bollywood is going to make its mark in Macau, the picturesque place which is host to the 10th year of the IIFA awards.

Five different categories have been made for the same, including Star of the Decade (Male and Female), Movie of the Decade, Music of the Decade and Director of the Decade, so as to honour the best of Bollywood over the past 10 years.

Shahid-Priyanka's pyaar impossible

Ever since Shahid Kapur and Priyanka Chopra got into a romantic relationship, there have been more stories about their split, than their togetherness.

The main problem has been their conflicting personalities. Priyanka loves her independence, working hard and playing harder while Shahid is possessive and leads a disciplined life.

Now, once again we are hearing about trouble between them and Priyanka getting tired of being constantly told what to do and what not by Shahid.

We were very sceptical and tried to talk her out of it, but she went ahead with it.” But once the actress emerged from the pool smiling, co-star Uday Chopra too decided to join in the fun, and admitting that the plunge was a scary one, applauded PC for her courage.

Priyanka gets nervous about steamy scene

Priyanka Chopra on one hand is excited about her upcoming release “Kaminey”, as it is her first film with beau Shahid Kapur, but on the other hand she is upset about a hot scene she has done with a theatre actor who plays her first love interest in the film.

While shooting the scene, she had no reservations as director Vishal Bharadwaj had explained the importance of the scene in the film to her. But now as “Kaminey” is up for release, Priyanka reportedly has developed cold feet and does not want that scene to be a part of the movie.

She feels that she is a more established actress now and her days of “Andaaz” have passed by. “Andaaz”, in which she did a hot number with Akshay Kumar, incidentally was the film which propelled Priyanka into the big league.

Hit Impossible

With two failing heroes and a borrowed storyline, Yash Raj Films’ new film, Pyaar Impossible, written by and starring Uday Chopra, seems a long shot for the movie giants. Its saving grace, however, could be the feisty Priyanka Chopra.

The leading lady says, “It was the script that made me agree to do the film. And believe me, once the audiences see it onscreen, they are going to love it. Also, it is the kind of film that everyone can relate to. I related to it, and that’s what made it so exciting.”

More about the storyline that she connected with, Priyanka says, “The plot is about a geek and a beauty, and how love between them is impossible because they are so different. How could this guy get such a beautiful girl? It’s a very, very sweet film shown from the point of view of the character Abhay, played by Uday. This girl enters his life, but he can’t even talk to her because he feels that he is not good enough.”

Having recently broken up with long-time boyfriend Harman Baweja and rumoured to be dating Shahid Kapur, does Priyanka find pyaar impossible in her own life? She says, “I don’t think so. Pyaar is not impossible for anyone; you just have to find the right person. It’s a very private thing, especially for me. But the day I find my love, I will declare it. As of now, I haven’t found him. Love is very important in my life, and I am very romantic.”

Pyaar Impossible, which also stars Dino Morea as Priyanka’s onscreen boyfriend, is being promoted through a unique concept: Yash Raj has set up a website, www.pyaarimpossible.in, letting fans keep a tab on what the cast and crew of the film are up to while they shoot. Priyanka says, “The whole site is dedicated to our shooting and what happens on the sets. Like, if I sneeze, you’ll see it on the web site because the cameras will keep shooting through the day!”

The film is said to have a similar plot to Notting Hill, the hit romantic comedy starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant. “There is no similarity between the two films except that both movies feature a beautiful woman and a geek. Nothing else is similar,” says Priyanka. But we beg to differ; just like in Notting Hill, here, the ‘geek’ is a bookshop owner too.

On film, she might fall for the geeky guy, but in real life, Priyanka has moved from one hunky Bollywood actor to another. We asked her how important are looks as a criteria for a partner. “Personally, I believe that looks should not be the criteria for being with someone, and that is what the film shows as well. I mean, it’s easy to say that beauty lies on the inside, but I have seen men and women who have had good-looking partners and are heartbroken when they break up. So it’s not a question of looks, but how that person makes you feel. If they look good, that’s a bonus,” she says.

The film is directed by actor-turned-director Jugal Hansraj, whose last directorial venture was 2008’s Roadside Romeo. Shooting began in April, and now, Uday and Jugal have headed to Singapore and will then go to Bangkok for a one-and-a-half month shooting schedule.

Uday’s last film was the multi-starrer Dhoom 2 in 2006. He has only ever acted in Yash Raj films, and Pyaar Impossible will mark a comeback of sorts for him. Dino’s last hit was Raaz, back in 2002.

Priyanka slams Kareena

At a recent filmi do for the movie Pyaar Impossible which rumours suggest are inspired by the American television series Beauty & The Geek.

But production house sources clearly deny this and say Uday Chopra has written the story himself), lead actress Priyanka Chopra (who plays the beauty) was asked by a mediaperson what she had to say about Kareena Kapoor claiming that she and Shahid Kapoor were using her name; just to get more mileage for their forthcoming film Kaminey.

Cool as a cucumber (literally), PC dressed in a white sleeveless shirt didn’t bat her mascaraed eyelids as she said, “Kaminey is directed by the renowned filmmaker Vishal Bharadwaj; it is produced by an established film corporation; it has Shahid Kapoor in a double role; it has me playing a Maharashtrian woman and so on. It definitely doesn’t need anyone else or anything else to get it publicity. Thank you, but no thank you!”

Definitely watch this space: the next cat fight is going to be between PC and KK, and their overzealous publicity machinery because as coincidence has it, Kambhakht Ishq (Kareena) and Kaminey (Priyanka) are scheduled to release a week away from each other in the month of August 2009. Of course, the multiplex strike could take these dates even further...

Priyanka excited about Kaminey role

Priyanka Chopra says actresses "don't get to work in a fantastic movie like Kaminey and play someone like Sweety (the name of her character) every day." She is talking about Vishal Bharadwaj's movie, which also has Shahid Kapur.

PC said she was "confident that my character of Sweety will definitely make an impact amongst the audiences. You can't expect anything less from Vishal. This character is so well written that it is bound to create an impact."
The film was expected to release on June 5, but the producers' strike might delay it.

Priyanka-Shahid go thanda after Butler fight

All’s quiet on the Shahid-Priyanka front. The latest love birds of Bollywood are currently going through a very rough patch, according to close friends.

The problem, quickly put, is this: Priyanka had a party for 300 star Gerard Butler. This by itself was OK with Shahid, and he was present at the party, as he would be, since they have become quite close. He was upset with two things, say people close to Priyanka.

The first thing was her drinking at the party. This is something he disapproves of generally, having become a vegetarian teetotaler himself. But in her case, he's also concerned because she's just out of hospital, having been cured of an infection.

The thing that really got his goat, however, was his belief that her camp has been planting stories of a relationship between her and Butler, where no such thing exists. Shahid doesn't think there is any fire to this smoke either: he understands that it's just talk to get her publicity. But her disavowal of Butler's "proposal" hasn't been coming, and she hasn't even laughed it off, as she'd be expected to do to, fanning the flames further. Priyanka has been showing his sulky SMSes to her camp, asking them what she should do next, now that their advice had thrown up this problem.

“Shahid is a very private person. Even when he was dating Kareena, Shahid did not speak about the relationship or try to use it to get mileage in the media," said a Priyanka-wallah, who insists that he was one of the people to advise against the Butler stunt. "He had spoken to Priyanka not to go overboard with her association with Butler in the media. But the day articles about Butler proposing to Priyanka came out, Shahid was furious. He told her not to be a part of any such publicity. However, she refused to back down.” Possible, because the coverage was delicious. Later, Priyanka attended Shah Rukh’s party for Butler, but Shahid wasn’t invited for it.

Priyanka has been trying to convince Shahid to forget about the Butler encounter, saying that there was no more to it. “She needs to know that Shahid is very strong with his opinions and beliefs. If he says something he expects the person to follow through,” our source said.

He dismissed any talk of Shahid responding to any comment from Kareena, saying that this was nonsense. "He's a gentleman of the first order. He does not talk about his women," he said.

House help who robbed cash from Priyanka's folks' nabbed

Priyanka Chopra's parents home was robbed by household help by a man who had been working with them for over a month.

On Tuesday morning, the actress, who lives in an apartment on the same floor as that of her parents, in Raj Classic, Versova learnt what had happened.

A source reveals, "There was chaos at the Chopra home on Tuesday morning when Priyanka's parents found some cash missing from their drawer. They had kept around Rs 25-30,000 to make payments, which disappeared. On finding the wads of cash gone, all the help in the house were summoned and questioned. Since the family has a big staff of helpers, it was getting difficult to zero down on the suspect."

Priyanka was preparing to go for a shoot but decided to stay back till the culprit was found. Her parents threatened to call for the cops but none of the servants admitted to the crime. Finally, Dr Ashok Chopra called for the police and the man who'd committed the robbery confessed his crime."

Dr Chopra says, "It was just a small robbery and we have now kicked him out. He returned the cash he robbed." When asked why he didn't register a police complaint, PC's father says, "It was just a few thousands and it was recovered, so we didn't register a complaint. We have removed him from the house. We need trustworthy people around."

The officer on duty from the Versova police station said, "We were called to the Chopra residence but no complaint was registered."
